How Long Do I Have to File a Personal Injury Claim?
If your injury occurred prior to July 1, 2024, you only have one year to file a claim. However, Louisiana recently extended the statute of limitations for most personal injury claims. If your accident occurred on or after July 1, 2024, you have two years to bring most personal injury claims.
The two-year deadline does not apply to all personal injury actions, and there are exceptions to the rule.
