In 2023, we hosted a community gathering called Bingo Night as part of our Corzo Cares community initiative. We held the event at the Gonzales KC Hall in Ascension Parish. Our goal was simple. We wanted to create an evening filled with laughter, good food, and neighbors spending time together.
At first, it may have seemed like just another local event. For us, it meant much more.

Bingo Night is Personal
For more than twenty years, Chris Corzo has stayed in touch with many of the people he once helped after car wrecks and other injuries. Over time, those relationships grew beyond legal matters. Conversations often turned to family, traditions, and everyday life. Again and again, one topic kept coming up. Bingo.
In South Louisiana, bingo is more than a game. It is part of church halls, community centers, and family gatherings. As we listened to our clients share their stories, we shared our own memories of bingo nights growing up. That is when we realized how much this simple tradition connects us all.

In our family, bingo nights were led by our late aunt. She organized everything. She passed out the cards, called the numbers, and made sure everyone felt welcome. She loved bingo, but even more, she loved bringing people together. She believed in serving others and building strong community ties. Because of her example, hosting a public Bingo Night felt like a meaningful way to honor her memory.
Bingo Night is Winning
With that in mind, we made Bingo Night part of Corzo Cares. It was never meant to be a one time event. It became our way of saying thank you to the people of Baton Rouge, Ascension Parish, and the surrounding areas for their trust and support over the years.
When guests arrived at the Gonzales KC Hall, we welcomed them with a smile. Each person received a name tag, a wristband, a swag bag, a VIP raffle ticket, and three free bingo cards for every game. As the room filled, we heard friends greeting one another and families settling into their seats.
Once the games began, the excitement grew with every number called. Winners cheered as prizes were handed out throughout the night. Raffle drawings added even more fun, including a surprise gift for one lucky guest.
We also made sure everyone enjoyed a hearty meal. Plates were filled with meatballs, fettuccine, and fried chicken. A fruit table and chocolate fountain gave families something sweet to share. People sat together, talked, laughed, and took their time enjoying the evening.
By the end of the night, every guest went home with shirts, bags, pens, and stickers. More importantly, they left knowing how much we appreciate them.
For us, Bingo Night was never just about prizes or games. It was about gratitude. It was about honoring a beloved aunt who believed in bringing people together. Most of all, it was about gathering our South Louisiana neighbors under one roof and sharing the same warmth and welcome that shaped our own family traditions.
